Croft Quinta da Roêda Vintage Port 2018

- Deep purplish-black in the center, with a narrow purplish-red rim. While the nose displays the seductive and opulent character of red fruits, a common characteristic of Roêda Vintage Port wines, there are also intense aromas of wild berries that add focus and delicacy. As usual, the fruit is enveloped in exotic balsamic, mentholated, and eucalyptus aromas. The first impression on the palate is of a rich and velvety texture, but it presents excellent acidity and well-integrated tannins that emerge at the finish. The finish is powerful and very long, with persistent and crisp red fruit flavors. Although, as always, the Roêda Vintage 2018 is ripe and seductive, the characteristics of the year and the contribution of wines from Roêda's oldest vineyards have placed this superb single-Quinta Vintage Port at the elegant and restrained end of the spectrum.
