Fonseca Guimaraens Vintage Port 2019

- Almost black in the center with a narrow garnet rim. As you would expect from a Vintage Guimaraens, the complex and intense nose is built around a core of blackberry, blackcurrant, and concentrated cherry. As the nose opens, the curtain rises in multiple dimensions of a complex aroma, including notes of salty herbs, hints of cedar, cigar box, and a subtle reddening of roasted coffee. The palate is wonderfully balanced, with plenty of volume and a lively acidity that runs through the mid-palate and into the long finish, elevating the wine and giving it freshness and vigor. The tannins are stretched and well-integrated, providing structure and volume, the finish ending in notes of dense berry wild berries.
