- A distinctive magenta rim surrounds an opaque purple, almost black, core. On the nose, an explosion of powerful and intense aromas of rich, juicy wild berries with notes of currant, blackberry, and wild strawberries. Notes of apricot emerge as the wine opens in the glass, followed by warmer notes of cedar, spices, dark chocolate, and that opulent fruit character that defines the Fonseca style. On the palate, these lush wild berry aromas are enveloped by an aura of wild herbs, star anise, raspberry leaf, cocoa nibs, and a delicious touch of tangerine peel. The wine's silky texture envelops the firm, well-integrated tannins that emerge at the finish to provide very appealing firmness and grip.
