Tawny in the centre with a broad amber rim. Rich, smooth nose of overwhelming density and complexity. A rich base of caramel and butterscotch combines with opulent aromas of treacle, plum pudding, dried fig and raisins. As the wine opens up, it reveals pungent notes of nutmeg and black pepper, hints of vanilla and oak, hints of apricot, plum and marzipan. With a smooth, silky texture, dense, peppery flavours, the palate has an appealing, lively freshness and impressive persistence. A majestic wine, with multiple flavour dimensions, developed over two decades of ageing in casks.
