Krohn Quinta do Retiro New Vintage Port 2009

- Deep purple core with a narrow brick-red rim. Vigorous, opulent berry fruit almost dominates the nose, a rich infusion of ripe black and red fruits. Notes of sawn wood, cigar box and licorice gradually emerge, as well as light notes of dried rose and violet petals. The fruity and complex flavor resurfaces on the palate with intense flavors of strawberry, currant and plum that linger on the long finish. Superbly integrated tannins provide body and structure without interfering with the wine's velvety texture. An exceptionally fine expression of the 2009 vintage, made with optimal ripeness and excellent fruit quality. It is already seductive and approachable, yet still shows considerable structure and vigor.
