Krohn Vintage Port 2017

Deep purple-black centre with a vivid purple rim. The quality of the fruit is immediately apparent on the nose. It displays the characteristic ripeness and dark fruit aromas of Krohn’s Retiro Novo estate in the Rio Torto valley, but also has crisp red fruit, fresh plum and apricot to give it pep and vigour. The nose is very aromatic, with pungent notes of rockrose mingling with savoury marjoram and thyme and floral aromas of rose and violet. In the background, there is an evocative forest fragrance of pine needles and fern. The palate is lean and sinewy, with linear, tightly wound tannins and fresh berry flavours that carry through to the long finish. A beautifully expressive Vintage Port, fine and perfumed, but with the depth and intensity characteristic of the 2017 vintage.
